Nations Cup 2001 - Original Dance

Rauer & Rauer (Germany)
They wore velvet costumes. I noticed some rather strange music elements. They seemed slow and didn't seem very much in the character of the music, I hardly could notice anything Spanish. They lacked expression in their OD and looked sloppy. A pretty bad performances, which also explains that they lost 2 places in comparison to the compulsory dance.
TM: 4.0-4.3
Pres: 4.2-4.4

Quabdesselam & Delmas (France)
He was in an all black costume, that looked baggy, I didn't really like it. Her's was a nice dress in black and red. Their rythms were Tango and Flamenco. I didn't find their OD very expressive, especially she should work on it. They weren't that fast.
TM: 4.6-4.7
Pres: 4.8-5.0

Dubreuil & Lauzon (Canada)
She wore a very beautiful costume, black with red flowers. He was in black pants and a white shirt. The music was "Yo Soy Maria and Balada Renga Para Un Organito Loco" (The lady sitting next to me had press sheets ;-) ). They were expressive and fast, their elements looked good, but they don't seem too powerful. They look very Spanish, especially her, what also helps.
TM: 5.0-5.3
Pres: 5.3-5.5

Watanabe & Kido (Japan)
They're costumes color's didn't fit together at all, she was in a strong red and he in black and pink, those costumes were really ugly and didn't have much Spanish feeling either. They were quite expressive, but exaggerated it most of the time, they really seem to be into dramatics. The OD looked rather frentic and hectic.
TM: 4.0-4.3
Pres: 4.0-4.5

Fusar-Poli & Margaglio (Italy)
He wore a black torero like costume, she a very Spanish looking dress in red and black. The costumes looked great, but are a bit heavy for competition. Their look was perfectly Spanish, she even darkened her hair for the OD. The music starts out really loud. They definitely were best in character of the music, they were really expressive, fast and looked already quite confident. Looked the most powerful. I'm not sure about the choreography of the dance, I'll have to rewatch it to make up my mind. So far I have liked, but haven't loved the dance yet. Loved the look and expression though.
TM: 5.5-5.8
Pres: 5.7-5.9

Mosenkova & Sychov (Estonia)
Plain dark read dress, he in a golden jacket and black pants. Difficult to skate after the Italians, they weren't that much into the character of the music, the OD didn't have any hightlights and they aren't very expressive.
TM: 3.8-4.1
Pres: 4.0-4.4

Vernekohl & Kurakin (Germany)
Rather ugly black & red costumes. The rhythm seems to suit them. He seems more expressive than her, they were rather slow.
TM: 4.1-4.4
Pres: 4.3-4.6

Blazowska & Kozubek (Poland)
Her in black and red, he in black and white. I liked their tango portion, very expressive during it, good in character of music. He had a stumble. I didn't like the Flamenco as much as Tango.
TM: 4.3-4.6
Pres: 4.5-4.9

Anselmi & Pedrazzini (Italy)
He in black, she in a beautiful red dress. Fusar-Poli & Margaglio cheered for them really loud and gave them an standing ovation afterwards. The Italian and also the Canadian team was very supportive for their team mates during the whole competition by the way. Good Spanish look. They are very expressive and good in the character of the music, the Spanish rhythms suit them well. He really looks a lot like Gwendal Peizerat by the way, he has the same hair style as Gwendal had some years ago, and also his face looks kind of similar at least from some distance. Luckily she doesn't look like Marina and their style is rather difference too.
TM: 4.5-4.8
Pres: 4.7-5.0

Romaniuta & Barantsev (Russia)
His costume is black and dark red, hers is black and red, but also had some pink that she should get rid off. I don't know why so many dancers use pink for a Spanish OD anyway. It's a color that doesn't look good on most people anyway and I don't know what is has to do with a Spanish look. Their music started playing before they were introduced, so of course they didn't start, it still took some time till the music was finally stopped. They had a very interesting choreography, but the Spanish feeling could be a little better, not that much in character of the music.
